Correctional Officers Receive Awards

​Larry Parsons, Executive Director of the West Virginia Regional Jail Authority, recently recognized several officers from the South Central Regional Jail for exemplary conduct, efficiency and fidelity. The officers:

Lieutenant Craig Adkins, Sergeant Norm Atkins, Sergeant Donne Ames, Corporal Anthony Leonard, Corporal Kristie Jones, Corporal Chris Mason, Corporal Robert Huffman and Officer Tim Thompson were awarded the Authority’s Good Conduct Medal during a ceremony held at the jail last week.

Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety, Joe Thornton, said, “It is imperative that we recruit and retain committed correctional professionals within all of our facilities, and to do that we must show our exemplary employees how much they are appreciated. I congratulate those honored at South Central and challenge all of our officers to continue to raise the bar for employee conduct.”

The Regional Jail Authority’s employee awards program went into effect on June 30, 2005. The program was developed to ensure Regional Jail employees are properly recognized for acts of heroism, bravery or other notable accomplishments.
