ADVISORY:
WV DMAPS to mark anniversary of 2016 flood
CHARLESTON,
W.Va. – The W.Va. Department of Military Affairs and Public
Safety is holding a brief ceremony Friday,
June 23 at noon to mark the anniversary of the devastating 2016 flooding
and remember those who lost their lives in that disaster.
The event will take place at the West
Virginia State Police Academy, where dozens of department employees will be
undergoing training that morning. Weather permitting, the ceremony will include
a ringing of the memorial bell on the campus’ main plaza by representatives of
DMAPS agencies, West Virginia’s congressional delegation, the U.S. Federal
Emergency Management Agency and Gov. Jim Justice.
